Organocide is an organic insecticide and fungicide that works on 25 common pest insects, and 4 problem diseases for plants. Controls pests such as mites, whiteflies, aphids, etc. Also stops fungal diseases like powdery mildew, scale and black spots. Effective solution that works to prevent pests and disease naturally.
Derived from a unique blend of soybean extract and sesame and fish oils, Organocide is heavier and more effective than other oils, but safer to the plant. Organocide is one of the only products on the market that will not cause plant burn when applied on the hottest day of the year. Organocide replaces many “hard” synthetic pesticides and is safe enough to spray at harvest time or indoors.
Dilute 2 oz. of Organocide per gallon of water. Keep agitated. If other pesticides are to be added, do so after Organocide has been thoroughly mixed. Use a sprayer that will put out a fine spray. For Scale Insects, make three or more applications one week apart. Spray the trunk as well as the top and bottom of the foliage. Complete coverage is necessary. Once under control make a preventive application 1 to 2 times per month. Although dead, the scale will retain its color and appear to be alive. When dead, there will be an absence of insects in the “crawler” stage.
For use on lawns to control flea larvae and chinch bugs, apply at a rate of 4 oz. per 1,000 square feet of lawn and water in after application.
Here at Sunshine Nursery we sell Orgqnocide and a wide range of other organic pesticides at the most reasonable prices on island.

Mulch is an organic protective cover placed over the soil to retain moisture, reduce erosion, suppress weed growth and provide a “finished” look to the garden. It will also serve to reduce the soil pH as it breaks down.
Mulch installation tips:
- Pull all weeds from garden beds prior to installing mulch.
- Apply roundup to any small weeds that remain.
- Redefine edges of garden beds by digging down 2-3″ so mulch remains in beds after installation.
- For maximum longevity Perfect Barrier Mulch should be installed at a minimum of 3 inches deep.
- Do not apply mulch directly to the base of any trees, shrubs, etc. as this will promote rotting of your plant material.
- Once it is installed, smooth the mulch with a leaf rake in order to create a beautiful evenly mulched garden bed.
- Enjoy the beauty of your yard longer before replenishment.

The soils in the Turks and Caicos Islands are based on coral sand and fragmented limestone, which by definition have a high pH. This is not good for plants because it blocks the intake of nutrients that are in the soil. The pH can be reduced by adding organic material such as compost, manure or peat moss. A sulfur based “soil acidifier” will also reduce the soil pH. Here at Sunshine Nursery we have a range of products for you to choose from to help equalize your soil’s alkaline level and keep your garden flourishing.
Buccaneer Palm (Pseudophoenix sargentii)
The endangered buccaneer palm is rare and stately, but requires patience to grow.
The rarest of the 4 palms that are native to the Turks and Caicos is the buccaneer palm. It is not grown often in landscape nurseries because it takes so long to grow, sometimes putting on only one leaf each year and taking ten years to turn into anything saleable. However here at Sunshine Nursery we have a wide selection of collected buccaneer palms and some that we have started from seeds many years ago. Below is a picture of our larger buccaneer palms:
The buccaneer is an endangered native to the Turks and Caicos and to a small area of the Florida Keys, Cuba, Hispaniola, the Bahamas and Eastern Mexico. It is drought tolerant, salt and wind tolerant and grows in well-drained, nutrient-poor soils. It can be planted near the ocean and thrives in alkaline soil which is why it does well here since the ground is very alkaline.
We always carry a wide variety of ceramic pots and planters to accommodate all of your indoor and outdoor landscape needs. Our ceramics are made by hand in a high-fired kiln and glazed with a thick coat of vibrant colors and can therefore take the direct sunlight we get here in the Turks & Caicos Islands for many many years without fading.
For the past 7 years we have traveled to Asia in order to hand pick the ceramics that we sell here on Provo. Our suppliers use traditional methods when producing these ceramics and over the years we have developed a very good relationship with them. Below is a picture showing how the ceramic pots are shaped by hand.
When it comes to decorating the interior or exterior of your home, these ceramic pots and planters can help to we create contrasts in color and really refresh your existing decoration. As well as supplying pots and planters we also carry many interesting statues and shapes all made with the same quality and colors as the pots.
We encourage everyone to use organic chemicals when it comes to pest infestations since many chemical products can potentially damage natural resources and the near by environment. In the USA thousands of birds die every year from eating bugs that have previously sprayed with chemical pesticides.
